European Gay Porn Awards

I wanted to find out the scope of gay porn that is made in Europe and the sensible place to start seemed to be the site of the European Gay Porn Awards. (http://www.europeangaypornawards.com) This year, 2008, will see the second awards ceremony and, as I have been invited to attend it, I will be reporting back on it for you later in the year; it’s being held on the 17th May in Berlin, so you may even get some first hand information about the Berlin gay scene if I get the chance.

Looking at the 2007 winners and categories I decided to use this as the basis for writing about the best in Euro Porn but remember that these awards are for productions, videos and models – later this year there will be awards for websites, reviewers and writers but that’s another story. So, who is making the best gay porn in Europe?

Looking down the list of winners in all 20 categories I did some adding up and found five companies that received more than one award:

Cazzo Film, Berlin, (cazzofilm.com) prides itself on making sophisticated productions that are filmed in unusual locations. They provide you with hunky European guys in hardcore gay sex movies… sorry, films, as we’re talking European. The company has been going since 1996 and knows what it is doing when it comes to making quality porn. These guys are giving the big American companies a run for their money and they don’t show any signs of slowing down just yet. Visit their site and you’ll find more than just a DVD store.

Beau Mecwon three awards at last year’s awards Ceremony in Amsterdam: best come shot and best actor for Cameron Jackson and best director for Vlado Iresch. All these prestigious awards were for the film Hard Riders which I tracked down on a DVD site which ended its review of the film with, “You can expect the usual sexiness and smoothness of all these Eastern European delights, who all give a good performance for us porn junkies. I have to say there is something very quaint and laid back about this film, which makes it very dreamy.” (http://www.tiposesso.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=125) Finding information about the genius behind this top title was trickier so I’ll have to leave it to you to search out.

Sk8terboy Film Productions, on the other hand, was easier to locate. This company was founded in 1999 and is one of Germany’s most popular porn labels. As the name suggests they turn out skater boy style movies with lots of younger guys, plenty of foot fetish action as well as more extreme and harder fetish content. You can check their site at sk8erboy.at where you will find it in English and German and where you can not only read their latest news but also order their DVDs, CDs containing their pictures, meet the boys and view the video on demand collection. Sexy, youthful European boyz wait for you there.

Finally I looked up OTB Video, winner of the best black/Latino film and best ‘top’. OTB are based in Amsterdam and, although it’s only been gong for a few years is already setting standards in the bareback, twink market. They film their productions in South America so you can expect lots of hot Latino sex. If you have visited such sites as Originalboys.com, CuteLatinBoys.com and BoyCumParty.com then you will already have seen some of the top talent on offer. (And if you haven’t then you should!) These sites are from Cobra Photo BV, which is a sister company of OTB.
